1958 Oct 13: Publication of the first book in the "Paddington Bear" children's franchise, followed by 60 more books by Michael Bond [1926-2017].
In 1965, seven years after the release of the first Paddington Bear book, Michael Bond had enjoyed such a successful sale of his book series that he was able to retire from his job as a BBC cameraman and work as a full-time author.
A life-size bronze sculpture of the fictional Paddington Bear by Marcus Cornish was placed in Paddington Station, London, in 2000.

This picture book is the final book in the "Paddington" series to be written by the creator himself; it was finished before Michael Bond's death and was released
on 27 June 2018 to mark the anniversary of the day that Michael Bond died and the 60th anniversary of "A Bear Called Paddington" [1958].

Following up "Paddington's Blue Peter Story Book" [1973], this collection contains the remaining stories published in the "Blue Peter" annuals, which Michael Bond had written during his time as a cameraman on the "Blue Peter" TV series.
