Well, shiver me timbers! And buckle my swash!
Based on the 1967 theme ride at Disneyland, the first "Pirates of The Caribbean" movie, released
in 2003 and starring Johnny Depp, was a gigantic smash hit, and Disney's marketing of the brand
created a huge demand for toys and games and apparel – and for more movies.
The second (2006) and third (2007) films were also box-office successes –
the momentum continues with reports of preparation for two more movies to film in 2011.
