"The Stolen Jools" [Paramount April 1931]

A short comedy film produced by the Masquers Club of Hollywood to raise funds for the National Variety Artists Tuberculosis Sanitarium, shown in movie theaters across America. It featured many cameo appearances by the film stars of the day, from multiple studios. The film was thought to be lost, until a print turned up in the U.K. in the 1990s under the alternate title "The Slippery Pearls"; a print under that title was then found in the U.S. also. The simple plot has police trying to solve the theft of Norma Shearer's pearls during the 'Screen Stars Annual Ball'. Directed by William C.
