J.R.R. Tolkien [1892–1973], beloved throughout the world as the creator of "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings",
was a professor of Anglo-Saxon at Oxford University, a fellow of Pembroke College, and a fellow of Merton College
until his retirement in 1959. His chief interest was the linguistic aspects of the early English written tradition,
but even as he studied these classics he was creating a set of his own.

Mirkwood
American entrepreneur and author Steve Hillard wrote a novel that uses the character of J.R.R. Tolkein to launch
a revisionist look at the 'Lord of The Rings' saga, wherein Tolkein travels to America and meets a female hobbit who is
then the true protagonist of the events that were heavily edited by misogynistic chroniclers. The story itself is enough
to madden purist fans, but the use of Tolkein himself as well as Middle Earth geography and characters and plot
from Tolkein's works has the Tolkein Estate in a legal tizzy.
