The term 'meta-search' is when a search engine accesses multiple databases to find results for you – some access as many as a dozen. Some meta-engines are in turn searched by multiple other meta-engines.
Most meta-engines do not have direct add URL functions, but they will often have either an affiliated pay-per-click service or they will tell you who their sources are and how to get into them: what source engines you can submit to for free, or what for-fee services they are affiliated with. |

Overture is the major database for Yahoo!, MSN, CNN, Lycos, AltaVista, Netscape, InfoSpace, Bigfoot, AskJeeves & others. Overture (formerly GoTo.com) is a pay-per-click operation: You post a deposit, and they deduct pennies (as bid by you) each time your site is chosen by a visitor. Three for-fee plans available, with 'minimum US$20 monthly spend'.

Started in 1999, later bought by AskJeeves, the new Teoma multilayer technology launched in April 2002. They took over DirectHit in Spring of 2002.

Babieca is based in Cadiz, Spain/España, yet is English language. Web meta-search data is pulled from Google, Yahoo! and others; directory data is pulled from ODP, using ODP++ software, while paid inclusion to the directory is thru Searchfeed of New Jersey.
|       Euroseek, which had content in 40 languages, was purchased in 2001 by WorldLight of Sweden. The site was reactivated in 2002, using data from O.D.P. & Google. The 'Submit Your Site' link goes directly to Europe's espotting PPC giant, which requires a "minimum campaign of £100" – more support that the effort to submit to O.D.P. is well worth it: O.D.P. link at top of the main page. | (min. campaign £100) | |||

Ixquick suggests submitting your URLs to each of the dozen major search engines that they look at =OR= you can pay them for either a one-time or monthly submission service. A new option at Ixquick is the Spotlight, a variation on keyword bidding: you can 'rent' a keyword for as little as $25 per year.

Dogpile/InfoSpace/MetaCrawler is a meta-search system: they are searched by MSN, NBCi/Snap, AOL & others, and get their data by searching a dozen other engines & directories. Direct add URL not available, but if you are already in their database (found by their spider), then they provide a means to edit your entry. Or you can submit to the ten listed sub-engines one at a time – simpler to just use Earl.
